Now that you have a starting place to begin your project I want to take a second to give some advice regarding staining your deck or fence. DO NOT apply stain or paint to an untreated deck or fence. You are going to have to pressure wash your fence before you do anything. If you just start painting or staining over dirty, grey, mildewed wood you are not going to be happy with the results. So after you pressure wash your fence and get everything cleaned up you are going to want to wait 24 hours for the wood to dry. You do not want to wait too long or else the spores of the wood will close and it wont except stain or paint as well as it could.
